If you are using a tablet Windows RT such as the the Surface RT, the Samsung ATIV Tab, the Dell XPS 10 or the Lenovo Yoga 11, you can now update your device to Windows RT 8.1 Preview and get Outlook 2013 RT for free!
Outlook 2013 RT is visually the same when compared to the regular Outlook 2013 application but is optimized for the ARM processor, has Touch Mode enabled by default and contains various other battery life increasing and disk space usage reducing changes.
Due to “special needs for security and mobility” for tablets, the following (mainly enterprise level) features are not available in Outlook 2013 RT:
- Online Archive or Personal Archive mailboxes
- Applying Messaging Records Management (MRM) retention policies
- Site Mailboxes
- Data Loss Prevention (DLP) policy tips
- VBA macro’s, COM add-ins and other custom programs or solutions (this restriction also already existed for the other Office RT applications)
- Information Rights Management (IRM)
- Microsoft Lync integration
- SharePoint Integration
- Fax providers
- Group Policy
