Outlook doesn’t close or outlook.exe process keeps running

Close Outlook buttonIt isn’t very common that Outlook doesn’t close on it’s own. Practically always this is caused by an add-in or another application which integrates with Outlook. At that time, you’d usually see the outlook.exe process still running in Task Manager as well.

Once this troublesome add-in is disabled or updated or the other application is closed, the problem will be gone and Outlook will close normally again.

Automatically Bcc someone when sending an email

Bcc buttonWhile you can create a rule to automatically Cc someone when sending a message, unfortunately an automatic Bcc is not possible.

Still, there are various valid reasons to want to do this. For instance, to automatically inform your colleagues or manager, or automatically send it to a mailbox where it is being picked up by a knowledge base process or put into a CRM system.

In these cases, a Bcc is often preferred over a Cc as it would expose these internal addresses to an external recipient.

In this guide, you’ll learn how to use a VBA macro to still be able to automatically Bcc your emails. Additional code modifications are provided to make it conditional, so it would only Bcc depending on the subject, a Category or importance, just like you can with a normal rule.

Don’t like VBA macros? No worries, there are also add-ins, which we can highly recommend, that can do the job.

CRC (Cyclic Redundancy Check) errors on pst-file

PST File buttonCRC (Cyclic Redundancy Check) errors are indicating errors with a specific file and in lot of cases with your hard disk.

It doesn’t indicate a problem with Outlook itself but a problem with the place on the hard disk where your pst-file is located.

When this occurs after you have just copied the pst-file (on disk, from network, from CD, by download) you should first verify that the original source still works and try to copy it again. If this has happened “all of a sudden” like in that it still worked yesterday, the issue can be either software based or hardware based.
