OutlookTools buttonA new version of OutlookTools has been released. OutlookTools 3 features a new design and is compatible with all currently supported versions of Outlook and Windows.

OutlookTools is a support and advanced settings tool for Microsoft Office Outlook created by HowTo-Outlook. It gives you easy access to Outlook settings and data folders and allows you to change various settings that are normally only possible through the registry.

Main Program Features

  • Displays installation information of your Outlook version.
  • Easy access to Outlook settings and data folders.
  • Easy access to troubleshooting tools.
  • Start Outlook with a startup switch.
  • Clear the Most Recently Used lists.

Outlook 2016 Update for January 2017

A Rollup Update has been released for Outlook 2016. This is a non-security update which contains 10 documented improvements and fixes.

Most notable fixes are:

  • When you have more than 30 calendars in a calendar view in a Citrix environment, Outlook freezes. To fix this issue, you’ll need to set the ResetViewThrottle Registry value.
  • Assume that you right-click an email message from a distribution list and select to create a rule for email messages from the distribution list. When you receive an email message from a member of the distribution list, the rule does not work as expected.
  • Synchronization issues of email, calendar, and contacts for upgraded Outlook.com accounts. Attachments and email messages may be missing.
  • The “Download Public Folder Favorites” setting does not work in Outlook 2016.

Most notable fixes are:

  • When you access certain IMAP mailboxes, Outlook 2013 crashes occasionally.
  • Assume that you right-click an email message from a distribution list and select to create a rule for email messages from the distribution list. When you receive an email message from a member of the distribution list, the rule does not work as expected.
  • Synchronization issues of email, calendar, and contacts for upgraded Outlook.com accounts. Attachments and email messages may be missing.

Exchange 2016 CU4

News

Cumulative Update 4 for Exchange 2016 is now available for direct download. It contains 11 documented new fixes or improvements and all previously released fixes and security updates for Exchange 2016.

Notable fixes and improvements are:

  • Added: Support for .NET 4.6.2. The next CU will require this version of the .NET Framework to be installed.
  • New: Refreshed new email compose experience for Outlook on the web which mirrors the current experience in Office 365.
  • Required: To install Exchange 2016 on Windows Server 2016, you’ll need to have update KB3206632 installed.
  • KB3199270: You can’t restore items to original folders from Recoverable Items folder in Exchange Server 2016.

Cumulative Update 15 for Exchange 2013 is now available for direct download. It contains 16 documented new fixes or improvements and all previously released fixes and security updates for Exchange 2013.

Notable fixes and improvements are:

  • Added: Support for .NET 4.6.2. The next CU will require this version of the .NET Framework to be installed.
  • KB3202691: Public folders indexing doesn’t work correctly after you apply latest cumulative updates for Exchange Server.
  • KB3209018: Results exported through the eDiscovery PST Export Tool never finishes in an Exchange Server environment.

Outlook 2016 Update for December 2016

News

A Rollup Update has been released for Outlook 2016. This is a non-security update which contains 11 documented improvements and fixes. Office 365 subscribers also got 2 new features this month.

Most notable fixes are:

  • When you change the recurrence pattern of an appointment in a SharePoint calendar, the SharePoint calendar is out of synchronization, and the appointment isn’t changed.
  • The display names of root folders in the navigation pane are displayed in lowercase letters instead of the capitalization of specified letters.
  • When you view the Free/Busy information, Outlook crashes occasionally.

All Office 365 users in the Current Channel now also have support for SVG graphics in emails and have a new Insert Icons command.
