Outlook 2013 Update for November 2014

News

A Rollup Update has been released for Outlook 2013. This is a non-security update which contains the latest stability and performance improvements.

Even though only 2 improvements and fixes are mentioned in the change log provided, it does also contain the 16 fixes from Hotfix KB2889951.

The new fixes are:

  • Outlook shows certificate errors for certain configurations when it tries to obtain Exchange settings by using AutoDiscover. The fix is to silently fail the connection to these servers instead of displaying the certificate error prompt.
  • Outlook may be unable to download the Offline Address Book (OAB) from the Exchange Server. The OAB Download thread runs in a loop unable to authenticate. This can prevent email from synchronizing, especially when you have multiple accounts all trying to download an OAB at the same time. This fix also requires Office update KB2899493 which itself also includes the Outlook fixes of Hotfix KB2889953.

Note: This update is also offered via Microsoft Update or already installed automatically for you when Microsoft Update is configured to also update other Microsoft applications.
Office 365 subscribers can install this update manually via the Update Now button or wait for the automatic update. This update is included in version: 15.0.4667.1002.

BCM update for November 2014

News

A new version of Business Contact Manager (BCM) has been released which takes care of several bugs. The most prominent bug that has been fixed has to do with form labels being incorrect for various Contact fields when the contact item is stored within BCM.

This update applies to BCM users with Outlook 2010 and Outlook 2013 (despite what the confusing title and filename may suggest).

To apply the update, you’ll need to uninstall BCM first (but leave the installation of SQL) and then install the latest version again. Detailed instructions can be found in KB3008363 (not yet live for all regions). This will not affect any of your current BCM data but it of course never hurts to have your BCM backups in order.
