A Rollup Update has been released for Outlook 2010 and can be downloaded and installed manually, but is also being offered via Microsoft Update.

Update KB2687623 for Outlook 2010
This is a non-security update and has been described as “contains the latest stability and performance improvements”.

This rollup updates contains fixes which were released in various hotfixes since April 2012.

It also contains 3 new fixes which were not included in any of the hotfixes listed above.

This rollup updates contains 16 fixes which were released in 2 hotfixes since July 2012.

Exchange 2010 SP2 Rollup 5

Update Rollup 5 for Exchange 2010 Service Pack 2 is now available for direct download (see below for links). As it also contains a security update, it’s directly being offered via Microsoft Update as well.

It includes 20 new fixes since Exchange 2010 SP2 RU4. Notable fixes are:

  • KB2712595 Microsoft Exchange RPC Client Access service crashes when you run the New-MailboxExportRequest cmdlet in an Exchange Server 2010 environment
  • KB2743761 DAG loses quorum if a router or switch issue occurs in an Exchange Server 2010 environment
  • KB2748767 You receive an NDR message that incorrectly contains recipients of successful message delivery in an Exchange Server 2010 environment
  • KB2748870 Declined meeting request is added back to your calendar after a delegate opens the request by using Outlook 2010
  • KB2763886 “The operation failed” error in the Outlook client when you open a saved message from the Drafts folder and then try to send it in an Exchange Server 2010 environment

Always Reply in HTML

Reply in HTML buttonWhile you can configure a default message format for composing new messages, Outlook will always reply in the same format as the original message.

From a compatibility and layout maintaining point of view, this makes sense. However, on some occasions, it also makes sense to “upgrade” the message format from Plain Text to HTML.

While you can manually change the message format after pressing Reply, you could be left with the wrong font settings and your Plain Text signature would have been added rather than your HTML signature.

The macro in this guide will let you reply in the HTML format as easy as pressing a “Reply in HTML” button.
